The Tochāl or Tochāl ( [toʧɔːl] ) ( Persian توچال) refers to a 3964 m high mountain, as well as the associated winter sports area , in the Elburs Mountains in northern Iran .
Location and surroundings
The Totschāl rises immediately north of the capital Tehran . Since 1977 a 12 km long gondola has been connecting the city with the upper part of the mountain, which is known as a winter sports area. There is a hotel at an altitude of 3545 m . There is an aluminum igloo on the summit as weather protection. The mountain is located in the central Elbors Mountains, west of Damavand , the highest peak in the country.
