Darkspace is a Swiss extreme metal band from Bern .
history
The band was founded in 1999 by musicians Wroth, Zorgh and Zhaaral. Wroth also publishes music under the name Paysage D'Hiver . The demo Dark Space −I appeared three years later . In 2003 the first album Dark Space I was published in a limited edition of 500 on Haunter of the Dark, in 2005 the equally limited Dark Space II . In 2006 both albums were re-released by Avantgarde Music . In 2007 the band worked on their third album Dark Space III , which was released on May 28, 2008 (at which the release concert also took place in Bern) in a limited and later in an unlimited version via avant-garde music.
style
Darkspace is strongly influenced by Black Metal , but the main focus is not on satanic or misanthropic topics, but on an "atmospheric" description of space. Sound associations of an environment interpreted primarily as cold and gloomy coincide with the appearance of the band at concerts and on the website.
In addition to the dominant background noise and sporadic singing , samples from thematically appropriate cinema productions such as Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey are used.
A striking feature of the band is a categorical renunciation of titles of their works. In addition to the albums referred to exclusively as Dark Space , all songs are named Dark and are only differentiated by two numbers. The first is that of the publication, the second, separated by a point, increases chronologically constantly. For example, the first song of Dark Space II is called Dark 2.8 , as Dark Space I contains seven songs.
