The other grammar school in Neubrandenburg (DaG for short) is a privately owned grammar school.
Educational concept
The performance-oriented school center RegioGym "the other gymnasium" Neubrandenburg is a grammar school with an orientation level in the independent sponsorship of the association "das Andere Gymnasium" e. V.
The school is an all-day school with classes starting at 7.45 a.m. The lessons take place in university-like blocks of 90 minutes (double-hour principle). In one class there are a maximum of 22 students who are taught together in the so-called learning ateliers.
An important point in the concept of the school is the study time at the end of each day, in which the students can do their homework. Another feature of the school is the semi-annual intensive week. Here, students from grades 5 to 12 can learn and apply work methods, teamwork as well as propaedeutics and colloquium work. With these learning methods, the school tries to promote independence in learning and working.
In addition to the teachers, a school social worker is employed, who assists the students with social as well as school questions and concerns.
Furnishing
There is a sports field and a gym on the school grounds. Computers are available in every classroom for homework time. In addition, all classrooms in the lower level are equipped with the "flexible classroom" system. A modern auditorium for almost 100 people is located in the front annex of the school, which was newly built in 2014. Furthermore, every classroom is equipped with smartboards for interactive lessons.
Engagement and competitions
Since the beginning of 2017, the school has been a "school without racism, school with courage" with ex-national team player Tim Borowski as project sponsor.
