Das macht Schule is an initiative founded by Bernd Gebert in 2006 . It is supported by the Das macht Schule Förderverein eV and the non-profit Das macht Schule gGmbH .

The project helps children and young people at schools to help themselves who want to make their learning environment more beautiful. Students and teachers are supported online with project templates, tutorials and on-site advice. The aim is to convey to the students that they can make a difference in society through their own initiative . Since 2007, over 1800 practical projects with over 300,000 students have been carried out nationwide.

Das macht Schule also mediates used hardware from companies free of charge to schools as part of the ongoing PC donation campaign . By the beginning of 2019, over 13,500 computers, monitors and printers had been donated by over 400 companies, the equivalent of over 3.4 million euros.

The pilot project in 2006 was the Farmsen high school in Hamburg. The founder Bernd Gebert was named a leading social entrepreneur by Ashoka in 2007 . That makes school is funded, among other things, by the Schöpflin Foundation , as well as by various companies with content and financial support. The association belongs to the Social Entrepreneurship Network Germany .
