The lost valley: A novel about hunt and love is a local novel that Gustav Renker published in 1931 by Friedrich Reinhardt Verlag.

action

The avalanche protection forest is sacred to the inhabitants of a remote mountain region. An old legend tells of a lost, paradisiacal valley that is said to be found in the mountains above. The protagonist (Verena Stettler) has purchased a radium mine from the community and needs permission from the lord of the castle (Rene von Eisten), the second protagonist, to carry out an exploration on his soil on which the Bannwald is located. However, the local farmers sabotage this with Verena’s approval. Rene, who is also a pilot, tries to find the secret valley with his plane. However, the company fails due to the weather conditions. Verena's fiancé tries to find the ominous valley by climbing, but falls down. When this is found by Verena and Rene, an underground rocky passage emerges, which turns out to be the secret entrance to the valley they are looking for. The protagonists finally discover their love for one another.

The story nourished blood and soil clichés and was filmed in 1934 by Edmund Heuberger under the same title .
