That was my most beautiful dance is a German hit that became a hit in Germany in 1965 with Bernd Spier .

It is a cover version of the English-language song I Only Came To Dance With You , initially interpreted by John Stewart and Scott Engel . The composition is by James Marcus Smith .

The German version sung by Bernd Spier with a text by Kurt Hertha was brought to the German market at the end of 1964 by the German branch of the US media group CBS under catalog number CBS 1639. On the B-side of the vinyl single , Spier sang the title What I Love Most About You . As on Spier's previous record releases at CBS, the producer was Hans Bertram .

The version with Bernd Spier came into the top 50 of the music magazine Musikmarkt for the first time on January 15, 1965 and climbed to number 2, according to other information even number 1.
