Data manual on the history of the German Bundestag

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The data handbook on the history of the German Bundestag was developed on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the German Bundestag by Peter Schindler, employee of the administration of the German Bundestag, and some professors and university lecturers who are particularly interested in parliamentarism and government, including Uwe Thaysen .

The basic idea was to summarize the statistics created in the Bundestag administration, which until then mostly appeared as in-house reprints and were not readily available to the public, and to publish them scientifically prepared for the 30th anniversary of the Bundestag.

With the data handbooks, the Bundestag succeeded in being the parliament that best documents its history and makes it available in a scientifically prepared way.

The "Data Handbook Editor" existed until 1999 as an independent "Parliamentary History Documentation" unit within the Bundestag administration. From 2000 to 2006 the editorial group was assigned to the "History, Contemporary History, Politics" department within the Scientific Services. Since the administrative reform carried out by Parliament President Norbert Lammert in May 2006, the "Data Handbook Editor" has been a subject in the parliamentary archive of the German Bundestag.

Until December 1999 the sociologist Peter Schindler was the editor of the data manual; Historian Michael F. Feldkamp has headed the editorial team since April 2000 . In addition to the various print editions, most recently for the period 1990–2010, there has been an Internet edition of the data manual since December 17, 2010, the most important data sets of which can be quickly updated and thus made more easily accessible.

Since the print version of the data handbook could only appear every second electoral term, the magazine for parliamentary questions published an article shortly after the beginning of an electoral term with an overview of the most important figures for parliamentary statistics.
