Qixing Shan (Cising Mountain)

The Datun volcanic group or Tatun volcano group ( Chinese  大屯 火山 群 , Pinyin Dàtún Huǒshān Qún , English Datun Volcanos Group / Tatun Volcano Group ) is located in the very north of Taiwan , only about 15 km from the center of the capital Taipei on the northern edge of the Taipei Basin . It is after about 1090 m high volcano Mountains Datun Shan ( 大屯山 named) and about twenty includes stratovolcanoes , which in addition to the eponymous mountain in the Qixing Shan ( 七星山 ) and Shamao Shan ( 紗帽山 ) are the best known.

The center of the volcanic group is surrounded by Cape Fugui ( 富貴 角 ), Xiangtian Shan, Miantian Shan, Datun Shan, Xiaoguanyin and Qixing Shan.

The mountain group formed 2.8 to 0.2 million years ago as a result of episodic volcanic activity. The last volcanic eruption occurred in the Pliocene and the volcanic group is now considered inactive. Fumaroles and hot springs continue to be found in the volcanic mountain area , and occasional small seismic movements are recorded, making the region seem geologically active.
