Daurentios
Daurentios was the first known leader of the slaves around 578 on the lower Danube in today's Hungary .
Daurentius was mentioned by the Byzantine historian Menander Protektor . He was leader of slaves in the former Roman province of Pannonia superior . The Avarenkhagan Baian demanded tribute from him from the rich booty that the slavins had accumulated after the raids in the Byzantine Empire . Daurentios refused. Around 578 Baian crossed the Danube against the slaves and destroyed many of their houses.
