Dave Coverly (* 1964 ) is an American cartoonist .

Coverly, who grew up in Michigan , studied philosophy at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti . He then studied English at Indiana University . He took a year off and worked as an art director and cartoonist. He returned to Indiana around 1990 and became a cartoonist for The Herald-Times in Bloomington .
