David Baur

David Baur (born June 29, 1977 in Tübingen ) is a visual artist and entrepreneur living in Stuttgart .

Life

Baur passed his state examination in painting in 2004 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart in master classes with Moritz Baumgartl , Sotorius Michou and Alexander Roob, among others . In 2007 he also obtained his diploma at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg in the course "Art and Public Space" with Georg Winter . For some time afterwards, Baur worked as a freelance art teacher at high schools.

David Baur lives in Stuttgart and has his studio in the Wagenhallen at the Nordbahnhof.

Baur's origins in painting are large-format motifs made with acrylic on canvas, which often make use of contemporary conflict lines with situational but also transformative arcs of tension - be they reduced to the human face or the focus on technological hubris. David Baur's pictures are black, gray and earthy clouds of color from which figures or things emerge in shadowy or fragmented form. His depictions are gloomy worlds full of destruction, violence and danger.

In addition to large-format painting, Baur draws small-format drawings on paper with graphite, watercolor or chalk in multiple studies and singular works.
