David Glass

David Victor Glass (born January 2, 1911 in London , † September 23, 1978 ) was a British sociologist . He became known for his research on social mobility . Together with René König, he published the standard work Social Stratification and Social Mobility in German.

Glass received his academic training at the London School of Economics and Political Science , where he then worked as a research assistant from 1932 and as a professor of sociology from 1948. Since 1964 he was a member ( fellow ) of the British Academy. In 1971 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences , in 1973 to the National Academy of Sciences .

Glass was married to the urban sociologist Ruth Glass .
