David Jackson (politician)

David Jackson (* around 1730 in Limavady , County Londonderry , Ireland , † September 17, 1801 in Oxford , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . In 1785 he was a delegate for Pennsylvania to the Continental Congress .

Career

David Jackson came to Chester County in what was then the British province of Pennsylvania at a young age and graduated from Nottingham Academy . After a subsequent medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania and his approval as a doctor in 1768, he began to work in Philadelphia in this profession and as a pharmacist. He worked in these two professions practically until his death. During the Revolutionary War he was first paymaster of a unit of the Philadelphia militia. Later he also worked as a doctor for the wounded. In the meantime he was also quartermaster of the militia. In 1785 he represented Pennsylvania in the Continental Congress. Otherwise he continued to practice as a doctor and pharmacist. David Jackson died in Oxford on September 17, 1801.
