David Charles Robert Manners, 11th Duke of Rutland (* 8. May 1959 ) is a British peer , politician of the Conservative Party (later UK Independence Party ) and landlords.

life and career

He was born the eldest son of Charles Manners, 10th Duke of Rutland and his second wife, the former Frances Sweeney. When his father died on January 4, 1999, he inherited his title of nobility.

The family also includes the Dukes' mother, the Dowager Duchess, his younger brother, Lord Edward Manners, a half-sister, Lady Charlotte Manners and a sister, Lady Teresa Manners.

His family seat is Belvoir Castle in the northern part of Leicestershire . In the summer of 2005, the Duke bought the Manners Arms Country Hotel and Restaurant. The Manners Arms was built as a hunting lodge for Charles Manners, 6th Duke of Rutland during the 1880s. The Duchess was significantly involved in the renovation work that was carried out. The duke's estate also includes Haddon Hall , which is inhabited by his brother Edward and his family. The 2013 Sunday Times Rich List estimated his personal fortune at £ 125 million but he had to sell a painting to keep Belvoir Castle running.

The Duke is a supporter of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) and has run fundraising activities at Belvoir Castle. With his nobility titles inherited in January 1999, a hereditary seat in the House of Lords was connected. He lost it on November 11, 1999 when the House of Lords Act 1999 came into force . In 1999 and 2005 he ran unsuccessfully for UKIP in the elections or by-elections to the House of Lords.

  • Lord Hugo William James Manners (born July 24, 2003)

The Duchess runs Belvoir Castle's business activities, including weddings and furniture.

Baron Manners , of Haddon in the County of Derby was awarded in 1679. These titles all belong to the Peerage of England . Baron Roos of Belvoir , of Belvoir in the County of Leicester was awarded in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1896 , but has a longer history with the Baronie de Ros . The highest minor title, Marquess of Granby , is the courtesy title of the eldest son and heir.
