Hildemar David Pfannek at the well

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hildemar David Pfannek am Brunnen (born March 29, 1954 in Selau) is a German- Jewish writer , translator , illustrator and collector of legends.

Life

Hildemar David Pfannek am Brunnen grew up on her parents' vineyard near Naumburg an der Saale, was not allowed to take his Abitur examination for political reasons and was imprisoned for refusing to do military service. After serving his sentence, he emigrated to Germany. He returned to his parents' property after reunification. For some time he lived near London and Bautzen, currently in Naumburg.

Quote

"Anyone who likes the legends of Martin Buber will not be able to put their grandson's collection down until all the rooms of the heart are flooded with the light of a newly found hope."

Poetology

Pfannek describes the lost world of the Eastern Jews and, in the same sensitive way, events in the present. An impressive experience was the shooting of a Soviet deserter on parental property, which he accidentally observed as a child. He later described it in his prose.
