Local museum

The Hohenwestedt local history museum is a local history museum in Schleswig-Holstein that has existed since 1927 . It is located in the so-called Burmesterhaus , a craftsman's house from the end of the 18th century, in the center of Hohenwestedt . The thematic focus is on the life and work of people in a church village on the Geestrücken in Central Holstein up to the 21st century.

history

The beginnings of the museum lie in a local history collection, begun in 1910, for students and citizens of the teacher and later head of the local history museum Hans Wilhelm Sierck, which was shown to the public in the converted Burmesterhaus from March 6, 1927 . The listed building was restored between 1983 and 1986 and refurbished from a museum perspective. The museum regularly hosts temporary exhibitions on art, cultural and regional history.

Organizational matters

The museum is run by a museum association and is open Thursday and Sunday afternoons. Admission is free.
