David S. Dixon (* 1947 in Pontiac , Michigan ) is an American amateur astronomer and asteroid explorer. He works as a researcher at the White Sands Missile Range in the south of the State of New Mexico and operates the Jornada Observatory in Las Cruces .

During his observations, he discovered a total of 21 asteroids between 1998 and 2009, one of them together with Janet Stevens .

The asteroid (51741) Davidixon was named after him on November 10, 2003.
