David Volksmund Produktion was founded as a German record label in 1971 by the German rock band Ton Steine Scherben . Along with RPS Lanrue, David Volksmund is a pseudonym of Ralph Peter Steitz, the guitarist, composer and co-founder of the band. Due to their lyrics and political orientation, no major label initially wanted to market the music. Necessity became a virtue, from then on all of the band's albums were released under their own label. Various singles and a sampler were released by Teldec .
The best-known group of the label were Ton Steine Scherben, which also had most of the publications. In addition, records from groups such as Carambolage or Stricher have been published.
