David Wilson (born January 14, 1884 in Irvine ; † unknown) was a Scottish football player and coach.

Career

Wilson began playing football at Irvine Meadow XI . His professional career began in 1901 with the Scottish first division club FC St. Mirren ; however, it was not used in its first season. In the following season he also scored his first goal in his two league appearances. In 1903 the outside runner left the club and joined second division Hamilton Academical , for which he was active for one season.

In 1904 he moved to England for the then second division club Bradford City , for which he played twelve games. Three years later he moved to Oldham Athletic for " The Latics " he was active until 1921 and came up with over 400 games. From 1907 to 1911 he was on the pitch in every game. On April 5, 1913, he made his debut for the Scottish national football team when he ran together with his brother Andrew against the selection of England at Stamford Bridge .

After his time at Oldham, Wilson moved to Nelson FC , who had been included in the newly created Football League Third Division North . There he was active as a player- coach until he was 40 . Later he trained one season each in Exeter City and the Stuttgarter Kickers .

Personal

David Wilson had three brothers who also played soccer. His brother Andrew was also a Scottish international, while his other brothers James played for St. Mirren FC and Alex for Oldham Athletic. After his coaching career, David Wilson worked as a stockbroker.
