David Zwi Hillman

David Zwi Hillman (* 1925 ; † September 2010 in Bnei Brak ) was a Jewish scholar, Charedian rabbi and Talmudist .

David Zwi Hillman was known to know the whole thing by heart including Raschi and Tossafot . He was considered one of the greatest experts in handwriting, manuscripts and the detection of incorrect versions. In addition, he was an expert on Jewish life in European countries and especially in Russia, whose Jewish villages, community codes and personalities were familiar to him.

Among other things, he was one of the main editors of the Rambam- Frankel edition, made extensive contributions to the Talmud encyclopedia and, completely on his own, published the Chiddushim of Rashbaz ( Shimon ben Tsemach Duran , 1361–1444) on Brachot over the years and that Sefer Hamizvot of the Rambam.

He was very social and his house and table were available to the homeless and poor.
