The Davis nunatakkers are a small group of nunatakers in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . As the southern forerunner of the Dominion Range, they rise about 5 km northwest of Mount Ward in the Transantarctic Mountains .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1966 after Ronald N. Davis of the United States Antarctic Program , a geophysicist and seismologist at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in the winter of 1963.
