The Dawson Falls , in Māori : Te Rere o Noke , are a waterfall in Egmont National Park , on the North Island of New Zealand .
Origin of name
The waterfall, known among the Māori as Te Rere o Noke (The Noke Waterfall ) because Noke , a Māori warrior escaped from his pursuers behind the waterfall, was discovered by Thomas Dawson in 1885 and got among the Europeans the name of its discoverer.

The Dawson Falls , sometimes spelled Dawson's Falls , is located about 3 miles southeast of the summit of Mount Taranaki volcano . From the Department of Conservation (DOC) information center it is only 400 meters to the waterfall. The waterfall, which is located at a height of 902 m , is around two meters wide and has a fall height of 18 m.
