Dazuko (for Da tei to handle ko ntrolle ) is a kernel module that under Linux and FreeBSD an interface between the file system and real-time virus scanners other providers presents and security tools.

The development of Dazuko has meanwhile been stopped.

The kernel module developed by Avira was originally a plug-in component of AntiVir for Linux servers and has enabled a security check of Linux-based files since 2002. From version 1.0.1, the Dazuko interface is also available to other providers for security and monitoring applications. Avira wants to make Dazuko a universal integration interface for the Linux world.

For example, the kernel module should be suitable for integrating tools that statistically evaluate file access or encrypt data on the hard drive. When an access request is made, individual file information such as the type of access, process and user ID are first redirected to the respective application for checking, so file requests are first passed on to a userspace program via Dazuko and only released for the application if the response is positive .

Software that works with Dazuko:

Dazuko is available as free software , but Avira GmbH also offers a precompiled commercial version of the software for Sun Solaris SPARC. By default, Dazuko is not compatible with Novell's AppArmor , so AppArmor must be disabled if Dazuko is to be used. Alternatively, you can compile Dazuko with syscalls instead of LSM ( Linux Security Modules ). This means that the parallel operation of AppArmor and Dazuko works.

DazukoFS

In addition to Dazuko, there is also DazukoFS, which is now version 3.1.4 (as of March 19, 2011). It uses a different interface and different devices than Dazuko.
