Dead Beat Project is an electronic music project by former esoteric keyboardist Olivier Goyet.
history
Goyet founded Dead Beat Project in 2005, while still playing keyboard for the funeral doom band Esoteric. The debut Breaking the Shell was released in 2007 on Aesthetic Death Records . Goyet's various collaborations arose from the reactions to the album. Filmmakers like Ben Stailey and Rossana Jeran in particular picked up the music of the Dead Beat Project or collaborated with Goyet on new projects. With the performance artist and dancer Gwam , Goyet founded the Alliance for Art Science and Nature as a permanent art project that cooperates with various artists and scientists in order to make the audience understand respect for the environment. The performance R'Evolution = Evolution, Rêve, Révolution in Montpellier emerged from this project in August 2009 . The music for the performance, recorded by Goyet Live, was released in 2011 as the second album of the Dead Beat Project R'evolution . In 2013, the third album Samsara appeared again like the previous album on the British label AD Music .
style
The debut album was labeled Neoclassical in reviews and compared to groups like In the Nursery . Elsewhere the album has been labeled Ambient Music and Electronica and compared to Skinny Puppy . While a gloomy atmosphere is attested to the debut, the later albums are assigned a more positive mood, whereupon they are increasingly attributed to the ambient despite a similar structure.
Goyet arranges different instruments, electronic effects and various samples in layers on top of each other. He often resorts to the sound of classical and ethnic instruments. The singing varies between etheral and spoken word .
