Deakin is one of 150 constituencies used to elect the Australian House of Representatives . It is located in the metropolitan area of Melbourne in the Australian state of Victoria . The constituency includes the eastern boroughs of Blackburn , Forest Hill , Mitcham , Nunawading, and Ringwood .

It was named after the former Australian Prime Minister Alfred Deakin and created in 1937. Michael Sukkar of the Liberal Party of Australia has been the incumbent MP for the constituency since 2013 .
