Dean's List (Germany)

The Dean's List ( Dean list ) is in Germany the leaderboard at universities and colleges of undergraduate - and graduate students of each program.

The aim of the Dean's List is to identify and promote outstanding students as early as possible on the part of the faculties in order to optimally prepare them for exposed activities in research, teaching or industrial applications.

A standardized grade - including the achieved credit points - is calculated based on the previously achieved study achievements ; Based on this, the best five percent of the students in the respective semester are awarded. The prerequisite is that the degree was completed in the standard period of study. The top five percent of the best graduates of the respective semester are honored.

origin

As a model for the Dean's List in Germany, corresponding best lists served in North America , where they have a long tradition; but especially in Australia and England as well as in other countries, the Dean's List was introduced at universities.
