Decatur Junction Railway

The Decatur Junction Railway ( AAR reporting as mark: DT) is an American shunting - Railway Company in Illinois . The company is based in Assumption and is part of Pioneer Railcorp .

The company operates two former Illinois Central Railroad routes, 68 kilometers long , from Decatur, Illinois, northeast to Cisco and south to Assumption. In Decatur there is a transition to the Canadian National Railway as well as 13 kilometers of route usage rights over CN tracks, which connect the two segments.

The Assumption route is owned by Central Illinois Shippers Inc. and the Cisco route is owned by the Cisco Cooperative Grain. The latter route was operated from 1986 to 1993 by the Indiana Hi-Rail . Since December 3, 1993, the operation has been carried out by the Decatur Junction.

The most important transport goods are grain, fertilizers and wood.

The four locomotives (three EMD GP 16 , one EMD CF 7 ) and three employees move around 3,000 freight cars annually.
