Defense Intelligence ( DI , until 2009 Defense Intelligence Staff ( DIS )) is the military intelligence service in Great Britain . As a subdivision, it reports to the Ministry of Defense .

history

Defense Intelligence was founded in 1946 under the name Joint Intelligence Bureau (JIB) under the direction of General Kenneth Strong . It followed the Directorate of Military Intelligence . After the establishment of the Ministry of Defense in 1964, the service emerged in its current form.
