Methods and objectives
The most commonly used dike defense means is the sandbag . However, geotextiles and waterproof tarpaulins (only to be used with special exceptions on the inside of dykes ) and water-permeable tarpaulins are used during dike defense.
In order to guarantee the functionality of a dike, in addition to the tried and tested measures such as charging with a sandbag dam , dike foot protection and swelling , modern, technical aids are also used.
