Your year for Germany is a voluntary service of the German Federal Ministry of Defense , which was presented in summer 2020 and is to start on April 1, 2021. The voluntary service comprises three months of basic military training in one of the 11 basic training units of the armed forces base. This is followed by a four-month special homeland security training course. This training begins at one of the three training locations in Berlin, Delmenhorst and Wildflecken and ends in one of the 30 companies of the reserve and support forces nationwide. The remaining months are completed within the following 6 years. Seminars are also held during this time and you are entitled to vacation. After completing the voluntary service, a transition to the reserve is possible. This program, which was first presented by Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer in summer 2020, will start on April 1, 2021, initially with 1,000 volunteers.
