Dejan Ajdačić Serbian - Cyrillic Дејан Ајдачић (born January 22, 1959 in Belgrade , Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian philologist , cultural scientist, ethnolinguist, literary theorist , translator and editor .

Life

Ajdačić grew up in Belgrade. His parents Nadežda and Vladimir Ajdačić were both physical chemists . He attended the Drinka Pavlović Elementary School , the Belgrade Fifth Grammar School and the Stanković Music Middle School .

He completed his diploma studies in 1984 at the Philological Faculty in Belgrade with the dissertation Colors in Serbian Folk Poetry . In 1986 he completed his master's thesis Concept of Love and Beauty in the Poetry of the Dubrovnik Renaissance and received his doctorate in 2000 with the work The World of Demons in the Literature of Serbian Romanticism .

In 1986 and 1987 he worked in the Vuk Stefanović Karadžić Foundation and from 1988 to 2002 in the Folk Literature Department of the Library of the University of Belgrade in the Vojislav M. Jovanović House . In the house of this writer and folklore scholar he worked on his library and estate, conversations and book presentations about folk culture as well as the scientific conference “The Magical and Aesthetic in Folklore of the Balkan Slavs” (1993) and conversations by Serbian writers about plants, food and wedding customs for the yearbook "Codes of Slavic Cultures". Together with Ilija Nikolić, he published a publication on Jovanović under the title “Zbornik radova o narodnoj književnosti” (anthology on folk literature). With Milanka Todić he published Jovanović's work as an amateur photographer.

From 2002 to autumn 2003 he was the senior librarian of the Belgrade University Library.

In 2003 he moved to Kiev, where he initially worked as a Serbian guest lecturer at the Chair of Slavic Philologies at the Philological Institute of the Taras Shevchenko National University . He then worked there as a lecturer until 2013 and then as an associate professor.

From 2016 to 2018 he taught at the Chair of Slavic Philologies at the Philological Faculty of the University of Łódź and was also visiting professor at the Chair of Slavic Studies at the University of Gdansk .

Works

Ajdačić wrote short stories with Ivan Srdanović, which were first published in Belgrade in 1988. He has also published numerous academic articles on the folklore of the Balkan Slavs , on Serbian and other Slavic literature in numerous languages, as well as translations from Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Italian.

Since 1999 Ajdačić has been the head of the electronic library of the Serbian cultural and cultural network Projekt Rastko . He has published numerous thematic Slavic anthologies (including on eroticism, anti-utopias, miracles, Old Testament legends, fantasy, bodies, Tesla, Venice, Kiev), which were published in Belgrade, Krakow and Kiev. He is the editor of an anthology of the more recent Serbian drama in the Ukrainian language Novitnja serbs'ka dramaturgіja (2006) and anthologies with essays by Vojislav M. Jovanović (1997, 2001), Novak Kolibarda (three volumes 1998, 2011), Mykola Rjabtschuk (2003) , Darko Suvin (2009), Per Jakobsen (2010) and Jerzy Bartminski (2011).

Memberships

Ajdačić is a member of editorial boards, editorial board member and reviewer of several scientific journals in Bulgaria, Poland and Serbia. He is a member of the Commission for Ethnolinguistics and the Commission for Folklore Studies at the International Slavist Committee and has also been chairman of this commission since 2018.
