Delfines de Xalapa is a Mexican football club from Xalapa , the capital of the state of Veracruz . Its home ground is the Estadio Antonio M. Quirasco .

history

The club was founded in the early 1990s and won the runner-up in the fourth-rate Tercera División in the 1991/92 season . Through this success, the club managed to move up to the third-class Segunda División 'B' , in whose final table 1992/93 the club landed in first place, but failed in the subsequent championship finals. In the following season 1993/94, the last in the only twelve-year existence of the Segunda División 'B', the club was able to avoid relegation with one point ahead of Orizaba FC and thus qualified for the new third-class Segunda Division , in which the Delfines reached the semi-finals in the 1994/95 season. In the same season , the Delfines were one of only four teams from the Segunda División, which was allowed to participate in the Mexican Cup competition . In the first round, the Delfines were even able to prevail against the multiple Mexican champions Deportivo Toluca (2-1) through goals from Javier Benavides and Brígido Acosta , before they failed in the second round with 0: 3 against Santos Laguna .
