Delirium was a Dutch death metal band from Hoorn , which was founded in 1987 and split up around 1990.

history

The band was formed in 1987. After the band had developed the first songs, the first two demos Delirium (1988) and Amputation (1989) followed. In addition, after several line-up changes with singer and guitarist Mark Honout, bassist Laura Beringer and drummer Han Swagerman, a permanent line-up had been found. With this line-up, the band recorded their debut album, Zzooouhh , which was released on Prophecy Records in 1990 . Then the band broke up again.

style

The band's music was particularly characterized by the aggressive, guttural vocals , with the songs mostly moving in the mid-tempo range, which was "but incredibly heavy, dark and brutal". The guitar riffs are described as "sinister" and "entranced". The music is comparable to the works of Hellhammer , the early Bathory and Celtic Frost . Frank Albrecht from the rock-hard magazine wrote, “Apart from the vocals, DELIRIUM sound like Celtic Frost from A to Z. The guys don't even shy away from taking over complete song passages from the Frosties unchanged. ”Still, it's“ fun to listen to here ”.
