The Delta Cancrids are a medium strength meteor shower that occurs annually between January 1st and 24th, December 14th and February 14th or January 1st and 30th, depending on the source. It has its origin in the constellation Cancer . The delta cancrids have a diffuse radian (alpha = 130 °, delta = + 20 °), which seems to consist of several partial centers. The Delta Cancrids reach the ZHR of 4 on January 17th, whereby the brightness of their meteors is only weak. Their speed is 28 km / s.

The first indications of the Delta Cancrids by the Italian Meteoric Association come from the year 1872. It was not until 1971 before Bertil-Anders Lindblad was able to present clear evidence of their existence through a photo analysis. To this day, the source of the meteor shower is controversial.
