Dementia Ad Vitam is a French band from Saint-Étienne , which is dedicated to neofolk , the dark-wave variant neoclassic and the industrial offshoot Dark Ambient .

history

The band was founded in 2005. In 2008, the debut album Spirit of the Trees was released on the French music label Occultum Productions , with which Dementia Ad Vitam became Wedard's label mates . Naturmacht Productions from Germany released the second work De Gaïa, Le Poison… with a latency of two years , followed another four years later by L'Éloge De L'Origine via Pest Productions from the People's Republic of China .

style

According to the style chosen, the band relies primarily on “piano, keyboard strings and related instruments”. The language of choice for the texts is French.

reception

In a review of the second work, a “lack of atmosphere” and an “almost omnipresent piano” were claimed. Against this background, for example, the song "L'Epilogue Funèbre" was described as " Yann Tiersen meets" Harry Potter "- Soundtrack ".

For example, there was an opposing attitude towards the third album L'Éloge De L'Origine . The band was a "very interesting Neoklassik-, Neofolk- Ambient Project" ( English " very interesting neoclassical neofolk ambient project " ) and the album a "serious recommendation for friends darker, melancholy, atmospheric music" ( English " great recommendation to lovers of dark melancholic atmospheric music " ).
