Pest Productions is a record label from Nanchang , Jiangxi in the People's Republic of China , which opened in 2006 and specializes in all styles of Black Metal .

history

The music label Pest Productions, which opened in summer 2006, was founded in Nanchang in the Chinese province of Jiangxi by Deng Zhang and Wu by Be Persecuted and is considered the best-known record label for black metal in the People's Republic of China . According to Decibel Magazine , artists from all possible branches of Black Metal, from primitively rough to experimental, atmospheric and ambient Black Metal, are under contract with the label.

Founder Deng Zhang is active as a graphic designer and musician and runs two other music labels in addition to Pest Productions. Wu, the co-founder of the label, resigned from Pest Productions after the release of a demo of his band, so Deng managed the record company alone. However, the first year was associated with various bottlenecks, so that a closure of the music label could not be ruled out. Thanks to the help of musician friends, Deng was able to keep the company going. With the release of the album Afterimage of Autumn by the Chinese black metal band Zuriaake , the label succeeded in releasing a milestone on the national black metal scene.

The signing of the Blackgaze / Post-Black-Metal band Ghost Bath , whose real origin was unknown at the time , caused a stir . Since the Bandcamp platform required a location, the musician Dennis Mikula stated Chongqing . Inconsistencies later led to the announcement of the band's real origins in Minot , North Dakota . In 2014 the label released their debut album Funeral . It was said that the operator of the label wanted to get out of the contract with the group, but this decided after hearing the album for the first time to release it. The operator, however, referred to a person who supported Pest Productions in South America . This is said to have demanded that Ghost Bath be shown outside the door. Whether the label operator knew from the beginning of the actual origins of the musicians has not been definitively clarified.

Meanwhile, a number of groups from European and US-American countries as well as various multinational metal bands are under contract with Pest Productions. Well-known groups who have already published works at Pest Productions are Heretoir , Make a Change… Kill Yourself and Tear Child .
