Richard Blade

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Richard Blade is an American sword and sorcery novel series about the eponymous protagonist , the volumes of which were written by several authors under the community pseudonym Jeffrey Lord .

It describes the adventures of the British MI-6 agent Blade in foreign dimensions, with Blade acting as a kind of interdimensional James Bond . The basis for this is the DX program - DX stands for Dimension X - which was developed by the scientist Archibald Leighton and which allows a particularly skilled test person to move between the dimensions of the multiverse .

The series was published in 37 volumes between 1969 and 1984 by Macfadden / Bartell. The series was edited by Lyle Kenyon Engel . Volumes 1 to 8 were written by Manning Lee Stokes , volumes 9 to 29 and 31 to 37 by Roland J. Green . Volume 30 is by Ray Nelson .

Volumes 1 to 14 were published in German translation by Kelter Verlag . In addition, most of the volumes have been translated into modern Greek .

The series had far greater success in France. There she appeared under the title Blade, Voyageur de l'Infini ("Blade, traveler of infinity"). First, the volumes of the original series were translated by France-Marie Watkins, and then the French-Canadian Richard D. Nolane wrote 43 more volumes. With the participation of other authors (Arnaud Dalrune, Patrick Eris and Nemo Sandman) the series was continued until 2010, a total of 206 volumes appeared.
