In 2012 and 2014 the split releases Hikari to Yami and The Great Depression II followed in collaboration with Infernal Necromancy and Happy Days respectively . music

Neil Andersen describes Inori - Japanese for prayer - as a perfect example of how Depressive Black Metal can sound, in which it combines the aggressiveness of Black Metal and the beauty of the melodies, making the album highly recognizable. The album retains the well-known and perfected sound from Misanthropy, although more melancholic and melodic elements are processed. Kanashimi's music is compared with No Point in Living , ColdWorld , Nocturnal Depression and Forgotten Sounds .

The music on the debut album Romantik Suicide has been described as a plaintive mix of Funeral Doom and Black Metal with a touch of Gothic . The singing is described as typical Black Metal and monotonous , which in comparison with the melancholy melodies of the instruments is perceived as "pale and lifeless". Each track on the album also follows the same song structure.
