Demetrianus
Demetrianus ( Greek : Demetrianos ) († around 260) was bishop of Antioch after Fabius and before Paul of Samosata .
While a lot is known about his successor Paul of Samosata because of the canon law controversy connected with him, the term of office of Demetrian remains in the dark. The exact date is uncertain, mostly the years 256–260 are mentioned, in some bishops lists one finds, however, an Amphilochius inserted between Demetrianus and Paul, to which the years of office 260–263 are assigned; but such an Amphilochius is poorly documented. According to the Chronicle of Eusebius of Caesarea , Demetrianus was in any case bishop, as Emperor Gallienusissued his edict of tolerance; this was in the year 260. More details about the administration of Demetrianus and exact dates can hardly be determined, since, unlike Fabius and Paulus, there are no contemporary sources that have been preserved.
