Den neie Feierkrop (Luxembourgish for Der neue Schürhaken ) was a satirical weekly published in Luxembourg until 2018 .

History and creation

Den neie Feierkrop emerged from the satirical pages of the Marxist newspaper vum Lëtzebuerger Vollek (Luxembourgish for Luxemburger Volkszeitung ) and was founded by its employees under the leadership of Jacques Drescher as an independent medium in 1993 and was published by the publisher Den neie Feierkrop Société Coopérative . The last issue (1192) was published on December 21, 2018.

The neie Feierkrop comprised four A3 pages with a circulation of around 12,000 copies. The weekly paper was mostly written in German or Luxembourgish , but mostly also contained a French article.

content

The newspaper dealt mainly with internal affairs. Well-known characteristics in the representation in the celebration krop were the idiosyncratic reinterpretation of the names of persons or institutions. For example, the former Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker was referred to as the raven-black Grand Dictator Bokassa , following Jean-Bédel Bokassa , the former dictator of the Central African Republic .
