Deng Pufang

Deng Pufang ( Chinese  鄧樸方 , Pinyin Dèng Púfāng ; born April 16, 1944 , Zuoquan ( Shanxi )) is the first son of Deng Xiaoping and his wife Zhuo Lin . Deng's comrade Liu Bocheng chose the name .

Deng Pufang entered Peking University in 1962 to study engineering and physics. The Deng family were persecuted during the Cultural Revolution ; Deng Pufang was tortured and forced to jump from the fourth floor. He has been paraplegic ever since.

Since 1988 Deng Pufang has been chairman of the Chinese Association of the Disabled , which he founded . a. works to improve the living conditions of the disabled in China. In 2003 he was awarded the United Nations Human Rights Prize for his commitment .
