history

When Napoleon Hill was a young man, steel magnate Andrew Carnegie brought him to the attention of the secret that made his fortune . Napoleon Hill was commissioned by him to examine the successful methods of around 500 millionaires and to derive a common philosophy of success from them. The six steps to the goal

The author explains that the path from craving for wealth to realizing it is divided into the following six steps:

  1. Set your financial goal as precisely as possible . So it is not enough to say, “I want to get rich.” It has to be a very specific amount of money.
  2. Think carefully about what consideration you are willing to provide for this sum. "In life we are given nothing," said Hill.
  3. Determine the exact time when you want to achieve your goal, for example January 1st in five, seven or 10 years. (As long as you don't set a deadline , your goal will inevitably remain in the future - and therefore unattainable!)
  4. Work out a precise plan to make your dream come true and get to work immediately . It is extremely important that your plan into immediate action to implement.
  5. Put everything in writing down to the last detail: the desired amount, the exact time by which you want to dispose of the money at the latest, the consideration you are willing to provide for it, and the plan that should lead you to your goal .
  6. Read this transcript aloud twice a day so that you can hear your own voice: once in the morning after you get up, once in the evening before you go to sleep. The transcript should ideally be positioned so that you can see it automatically when you fall asleep or when you get up.

The United States: the land of money-making opportunities

Hill says exactly where and how opportunities can be found to gain wealth. The country is not mentioned in the German translation, but the original version is about the United States:

“After we've familiarized yourself with the rules and principles that have helped virtually all self-made millionaires build their fortunes, the next question you may ask yourself is: Where can I find opportunities to apply these principles? (...)
First of all, we remember that we all live in a country where everyone enjoys unlimited freedom to think, say and do what seems good to them and does not harm anyone .
We enjoy the freedom of thought, the free choice and unhindered use of all upbringing and educational opportunities, the free formation of political opinions, the free choice of occupation, the freedom to accumulate as much money as we wish without any external interference, the free choice of residence , of the workplace and of the spouse, the freedom to travel wherever we want, and finally the freedom to set ourselves the highest conceivable goal that a person can achieve. "

The great lesson of the United States Declaration of Independence

Hill makes it clear to us what a great example of the determination and courage of the American Declaration of Independence it expressed:

“The most momentous decision in history as to any American citizen was made on July 4, 1776, when 56 men in Philadelphia put their names on a document they knew would either give freedom to all citizens of the American colonies - or bring them all to the gallows! . "
