Memorial to those who fell in March (Mechterstädt)
The memorial for those who fell in March on Gothaer Strasse in Mechterstädt commemorates the events of March 25, 1920 . 15 citizens from Thal who were summoned to march to the district town of Gotha in order to be interrogated there, found a violent death by shooting .
The monument consists of a roughly 1.5 m high, roughly worked block of limestone from the municipality of Thal. A black marble plaque was affixed to it with the names and dates of birth of the 15 men shot here:
