The Reunification Memorial is a monument in the North Korean capital Pyongyang in the Rakrang-guyŏk district . It was created in 2001 in memory of the efforts of the "eternal President" Kim Il-sung for the Korean reunification between North and South Koreabuilt. He was the first to draw up a reunification concept in 1960 and, on May 3, 1972, on a state visit by a South Korean government delegation to Pyongyang, formulated three principles for reunification (independent reunification without reference to foreign forces and free from foreign interference, great national unity if the Differences in ideology and systems, peaceful reunification without the use of arms).

The monument forms a gate over the Pyongyang-Kaesŏng Expressway , which runs from Pyongyang to Kaesŏng and on to Panmunjeom to the Demilitarized Zone . It has a total height of 30 meters and a width of 61.50 meters and illustrates two 25 meter high identical stone Koreans that in traditional Korean costume face and share a blackboard with the map of the combined Korea and is labeled 3 대헌장 up keep . The table is framed by two summer magnolias , the national flower of North Korea.

At the base of the monument there are various sculptures, representing the three principles formulated by Kim Il-sung for a reunification.
