Dennis J. McCarthy
Dennis J. McCarthy (born January 14, 1924 , † August 29, 1983 in Salamanca ) was an American Jesuit and professor of the Old Testament at the Pontifical Biblical Institute .
McCarthy grew up in Chicago and Milwaukee before joining the Jesuit order on August 8, 1944 . He was ordained a priest on June 20, 1956 and initially taught at Saint Louis University . From 1969 until his death he taught at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome.
