Densha de Go! ( jap. 電車 で Go !, Eng. "Take the train!") is a Japanese video game series. It is a train simulation . The first part was released in 1996 as an arcade game produced by Taito . Since the development department of Taito has now been taken over by Square Enix , newer games are from Ongakukan .
overview
Densha de Go! focuses solely on real Japanese trains and rail routes. The main focus is on important commuter routes and attractive secondary routes. The aim is to drive as precisely as possible according to the timetable, comply with the speed limits and bring the train to a stop precisely. The latter is of great importance in Japan, as there are markings on the platforms, especially in metropolitan areas, which indicate where the doors of the stopping train are.
In contrast to Railfan and Train Simulator , two other major Japanese game series with a similar concept, Densha de Go! no video recordings that are played back according to the driving speed, but the route and surroundings are modeled. Densha de Go! is not an authentic simulation, but a section of reality with arcade physics reduced as far as possible to simple acceleration and braking.
Versions
The series has appeared on almost every major console in Japan since 1996 - regardless of whether it is a home console or a handheld. Densha de Go! FINAL of 2004 marked a provisional end point, only ports and mobile games appear. The Nintendo DS game from 2010 is an exception. At the end of 2017, the series returned with Densha de Go !! back to the Japanese gambling halls.
