Department of Defense (Australia)
The Department of Defense (German Ministry of Defense ) is an Australian government agency based in Canberra ( Russell Offices ⊙ and Campbell Park ⊙ ). It is part of the Australian Defense Organization . The ministry, founded in 1942, has 65,647 employees.
The division includes the Australian Defense Force, as well as the Department of Defense Intelligence and the Security Group, which has three intelligence services:
- Australian Geospatial Intelligence Organization (AGO, formerly DIGO)
- Australian Signals Directorate (ASD, formerly DSD), a secret service for electronic reconnaissance and information security
- Defense Intelligence Organization (DIO), a foreign intelligence agency
and the fourth agency
- Defense Security Authority (DSA), which provides security services to the ministry.
