Department of Water and Sanitation

The Department of Water and Sanitation ("Ministry of Water and Sanitation ") is a ministry of the South African government . In May 2009, following the election of Jacob Zuma, the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry ("Ministry of Water and Forestry") was split and forestry responsibility was split between the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries ("Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as well as Fishing "). The Department of Water and Sanitation was founded in May 2014 by President Jacob Zuma. Former Prime Minister of Gauteng, Nomvula Mokonyane , was the first female minister (May 26, 2014 - January 28, 2018). She was replaced by Gugile Nkwinti .
