Stará Boleslav depot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Stará Boleslav depot (also known as the Stará Boleslav hoard ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Stará Boleslav , a district of Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav in Středočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the National Museum in Prague .

Find history

The depot was discovered in autumn 1946 during excavation work for the sewer system in what was then Dr Viter Street (now Dobrovského) in Stará Boleslav. It was 1 m deep in sandy soil.

composition

The depot consists of several bronze objects : an arm spiral , eleven eyelet neck rings , a solid oval ring, two ring- headed needles with chains made of rings, four spiral rings made of double wire, a ring (finger ring?) And a spiral roller . In addition, a fragment of amber - pearl . The spiral arm and the finger ring are made of strips with a lens-shaped cross-section, the spiral roller is made of wire with a lens-shaped cross-section. Four of the eyelet neck rings are poorly executed. Some of them have cracks, some parts are not completely cast or are peeling off. Since the neck rings have different diameters, Václav Moucha believes it is possible that they were originally put together to form two neck collars that taper towards the top. The massive oval ring was cast in a double-shell mold. A cast seam can be seen on the inside. Its ends are tapered and ribbed.
