Staré Místo depot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Staré Místo depot (also known as the Staré Místo hoard ) is a depot find from the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Staré Místo in Královéhradecký kraj , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. Today the depot is in the regional museum in Jičín .

Find history

The depot was discovered in 1932 in the east of Staré Místo in a field near the railway station. The exact circumstances of the find are unknown.

composition

The depot consists of three bronze objects : two fragments of eyelet neck rings or ring bars and a ridge hatchet . The two ring fragments have recently broken, possibly they belonged to a ring. The ax also broke in the middle, but this break may already have occurred in prehistoric times. Ceramic shards were found together with the bronze objects; possibly the depot had been deposited in a vessel.
